• RESPONSE TO AN EMERGENCY CALL

  On Wednesday 5th September 2007 I was visiting Southport with my wife. At about 13:40 hrs we saw a disabled gentleman in a wheelchair fall down steps in Lord street. He fell on to his head and face. I helped get him up and and ambulance was called, as we were worried that he had fallen on his head, appeared to be concussed and his nose was bleeding. The lady in the cafe nearby called for an ambulance and explained what had happened. We waited with this poor chap for a good twenty minutes but no one arrived. The disabled man, by this time seemed to have recovered and, fed up with waiting left the scene. I feel the service, or should I say no service, was in my opinion very poor. Fortunately, this chap sustained only minor injuries and was well enough to make his way home, but the ambulance service were not t know this !! What if he had sustained a life threatening head injury ? I guess we would still be waiting now - very poor emergency service response indeed. I am thankful I live in area with a very efficient and responsive ambulance service.
