The skill and techniques of making this furniture has been handed down from generation to generation. In the 18th century UK, most stately homes have a piece of lacquer furniture to grace their homes, but now with direct import from China, lacquer furniture is no longer reserved for the rich and privileged but affordable for everyone. Further to the base coat being applied, the furniture is treated to several layers of natural lacquer. The craftsman paints the fine gold coloured detail and decoration by hand. A final lacquer coat is then pplied resulting in a truly exquisite work of art.
